Movie Preview: American Assassin

Words by Tom Stephenson

Over recent weeks we’ve harped on about how 2017 has been an appalling year for film, droning on about how every trip to the cinema has left us feeling less than satisfied. Well, this weekends big release, American Assassin, looks as though it might just be the end to our disappointment.

Based on the novel of New York Times Bestselling author Vince Flynn, the film sees Mitch Rapp, played by Dylan O’Brien, seeking revenge after losing his fiancé during a terrorist attack. After being enlisted as a black ops recruit by the CIA, he’s sent to train with Cold War veteran Stan Hurley, played by Michael Keaton.

The two begin to investigate a series of seemingly random attacks carried out on both military personnel and civilians. After discovering a correlation, Rapp and Hurley set out to stop a rogue operative looking to instigate a world war.

American Assassin hits the big screen this coming weekend, don’t miss out on the opportunity to witness one of the most thrilling films of 2017.
